Why this matters

Your website is the most important sales tool your business has.

The research has been consistent for years. Customers decide whether to trust your business online, long before they ever pick up the phone. Here is what the data shows.

81%

of consumers research a business online before buying

Most purchase decisions happen before a customer ever calls or walks in. If you cannot be found, or if what they find does not inspire confidence, you are out of the running before the conversation starts.

75%

judge a company's credibility based on its website

Your site is not a brochure. It is the single largest signal of how serious, capable, and trustworthy your business is. A dated or sloppy site costs you customers who never tell you why they walked away.

94%

of first impressions are design-related

Visitors form an opinion of your business in milliseconds, before they read a single word. Layout, type, and color do the heavy lifting on whether they stay or leave.

faster growth for small businesses with a professional website

Companies that invest in a real online presence report roughly double the growth rate of those that rely on social media or word of mouth alone.

31%

of shoppers will not buy from a business with no website

Nearly a third of customers treat the absence of a website as a deal-breaker, even before evaluating price, product, or location.

44%

of B2B buyers leave a site without clear contact information

A site that hides how to reach you loses nearly half of qualified prospects in the first thirty seconds. Trust is built by being easy to talk to.

The Local Lantern

thelocallantern.com

The Local Lantern is a complete community platform I built for Alabama from the ground up. It is a place where people can share what is happening in their towns, find local businesses, post events, list jobs, and connect with neighbors. I wanted Alabama to have something better than scattered Facebook groups and search results that point everywhere except the local economy.

The process

From first conversation to a site that earns its keep.

Most websites move from inquiry to launch in four to six weeks. Apps and platforms take longer and get a clear timeline at the quote.

Discovery step illustration
01Week 1

Discovery

A short call or exchange of messages to understand your business, your customers, and what the project needs to do. You leave with a clear scope and a fixed quote — and a free homepage mockup if you want to see the direction first.

Design step illustration
02Weeks 2–3

Design

Custom layouts built around your brand, not pulled from a template library. You see real designs early and approve the direction before any code is written.

03Weeks 3–5

Build

Hard-coded pages, fast hosting set up, domain and email configured, search-engine fundamentals in place. Every component tested across phones, tablets, and desktops.

Launch & Care

Site goes live, analytics start tracking, and your monthly care plan begins. From here on, updates, security, and hosting are handled for you. No contracts, no surprises.

Frequently asked

Questions worth answering up front.

If your question is not here, send a note. Every inquiry is read personally.

01What does a project cost?+

Every build is quoted based on scope: a five-page business site, a booking system, an online store, and a mobile app are very different projects. There is no setup fee — you pay the quoted build cost (upfront or financed over 12 months with $0 down) and then a monthly care plan starting at $50. You get a clear, line-item quote before anything starts.

02Do you build web applications and mobile apps, or just websites?+

All three. Websites are the core of the studio, but a growing share of projects are web applications — booking systems, customer portals, online stores, community platforms — and iOS/Android apps. The Local Lantern, a full community platform, is the largest example in the portfolio. App and platform projects are scoped during discovery like any other build.

03What's the difference between the three monthly plans?+

Essential ($50/mo) keeps a standard website hosted, secure, and updated with 5 content changes a month. Growth ($100/mo) adds unlimited updates, priority turnaround, and a monthly SEO health check. Performance ($200/mo) is for web applications, online stores, and busy brands: it covers app and store upkeep, plus a weekly site refresh based on what you post to social media. You can change plans at any time.

04How does the social-media-synced plan actually work?+

On the Performance plan, I follow your business's social accounts. Each week I pull the content worth keeping — new products, events, photos, announcements — and update your site to match, so the website never lags behind your Facebook or Instagram. You keep posting like you already do; the site stays current automatically.

05Do you offer payment plans?+

Yes. The build cost can be paid upfront before launch, or financed across 12 monthly payments with $0 down. After month 12, the cost drops to your care plan's standard monthly fee. The website, design, and code belong to you at the end of the financing term. Either option includes the same custom build, hosting, security, and maintenance.

06What if I already have a domain or hosting?+

No problem. If you have a domain you want to keep, it stays yours and gets pointed at the new site. If you have existing hosting, you can either keep it or move to ours during launch. The monthly care plans assume the site is hosted by the studio, since that is what makes the included maintenance possible.

07Can you migrate my existing WordPress or Squarespace site?+

Yes, this is one of the most common projects. The old site is reviewed, the content worth keeping is identified, and a custom replacement is designed and built. Migration is folded into the project quote. Run your current site through the free SEO checker first — it usually makes the case on its own.

08How long does a project actually take?+

Most websites move from kickoff to launch in four to six weeks. Web applications, online stores, and mobile apps take longer depending on features, and that is scoped during discovery with a clear timeline before work begins.

09What happens if I want to leave?+

You leave. There are no contracts, no cancellation fees, and the design files belong to you. The only thing tied to the monthly fee is hosting and maintenance, so if you move hosting elsewhere, the relationship ends cleanly.
